Research Interests

My research focuses on trauma biomechanics and musculoskeletal injury prevention related to the quintessential field of falls and fall injury prevention in older adults. My affiliations with the UW-Schlegel-Research Institute of Aging let me use real world data to characterize fall injuries and evaluate the effects, benefits, and implementation of safety flooring for older adults residing within retirement and long-term Schlegel Villages care facilities.

Some of my active projects are :

  • Probabilistic modelling of hip fracture risks and hip injury prevention interventions in older adults.
  • The influence of age, sex, and living environment on fall predictors in older adults.
  • The effects of compliant safety flooring on balance and mobility in older adults.
  • Qualitative/quantitative perceptions related to safety flooring.
  • Cost-effectiveness of safety flooring.
