Campus Housing allows you to move in during the first week of classes each term (September, January and May). In general, off-campus housing leases begin on the first day of the month.
If you arrive without a permanent place to live, or before your lease starts, you’ll need to arrange short-term accommodations. Waterloo offers temporary accommodations on campus from May until mid-August.
Accommodation during winter break
If you’ve arranged to live in Campus Housing, be advised that most buildings close for the winter break. In general, students must leave their residence 24 hours after their last exam. If you wish to stay longer, book a moving appointment to request an extension on your stay until the final day of exams. For the rest of the break, you'll need to rent short-term accommodations to stay in Waterloo or, if you're eligible, participate in the International Student Bridging Program.
