The Irving Lab

Dr. Irving's research interests are in the natural development of the eye and visual system and the capacity for adaptation of the eye and visual system to environmental influences. These environmental influences may occur as a result of daily living, disease, or the treatment of disease.

  1. July 16, 2012Elizabeth Irving and Hélène Kergoat receive funding to study Parkinson’s disease

    Dr. Elizabeth Irving and Dr. Hélène Kergoat receive funding to study Convergence Insufficiency and Parkinson’s disease.

    Their project has received 3 years of funding totaling $225,000 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and an additional $4,000 from the Canadian Optometric Education Trust Fund (COETF).

Dr. Elizabeth Irving


 Elizabeth L Irving is a Professor at the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science, with a cross appointment to the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. She was the head of the Binocular Vision Service at the School until taking up a Canada Research Chair in 2001. She is an Affiliated Scientist with the Vision Science Research Program at the Toronto Western Hospital, with adjunct appointments to the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Toronto and the CVR at York University.
