Posters, digital screens and exhibitions in the Libraries

The Libraries welcome the opportunity to share information that support the academic and social lives of the Waterloo community.

Print posters

Community poster boards are located on the main floors of both Dana Porter and Davis Centre Libraries. To maintain a respectful, inclusive and community-focused environment, all posters submitted to the Libraries for display must follow the guidelines below.

To submit a poster, it must be dropped at the Library Help Desk of your preferred location to be approved by library staff. Once approved, the poster will be stamped, dated and library staff will put it on the appropriate board. Only one copy can be accepted per location. Approval and posting can take up to three business days. 

Any poster put up without Libraries approval will be removed. The Libraries reserve the right to refuse the display of any poster, including but not limited to those that do not comply with these guidelines.

What can be posted

  • Relevant to the University of Waterloo campus community
  • Timely
  • Posters that are clear and easy to read 
  • Sized correctly: either 8.5” x 11” or 11” x 17”

What cannot be posted

  • Commercial materials or advertisements
  • Job postings or housing rentals
  • Campus election campaign posters
  • Offensive, discriminatory or sexually explicit content
  • Posters promoting religious or political activities occurring outside of the university community
  • Posters that are blurry, hard to read or missing essential information, such as event date or organizer name

Digital Screens

Digital screens are located on each floor of Dana Porter Library and the main floor of Davis Centre Library.

A limited number of slides are reserved to support campus initiatives. All slides are approved by library staff according to the same guidelines listed above for print posters.

Exhibitions

The Libraries are currently not accepting submissions of public exhibitions for display in our spaces.
