Each academic department has a librarian who collaborates with the faculty library representative to:
- develop library collections that fully meet the research and teaching needs of the student and faculty of the department
- facilitate communication between the department and the Libraries about:
- departmental activities such as proposed new courses or programs, or developing areas of research interest
- library resources, services, policies, and instructional programs
