The Library recently launched institutional storage to the citation manager Zotero, allowing Waterloo researchers to easily collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research with unlimited storage space.
With changes to RefWorks coming — RefWorks Classic is being phased out as of June 30, 2023 — a review of the reference management products currently supported by the Library was completed. While the Library will currently continue to support ProQuest RefWorks, the decision was made to also move ahead with Zotero institutional storage.
Those already using Zotero will automatically be provided with institutional storage if they signed up using their Waterloo email. Those who signed up with a different email address can update their account with their Waterloo email to receive the benefits of unlimited storage.
If you’re new to Zotero and/or interested in making the switch, the Library’s Zotero guide is a good place to start. Library staff are also available to provide workshops for research teams and classes to get a broad understanding of how to make the most of the software. To book a workshop or for those with specific questions, reach out to the Library’s Zotero team for expertise and support. For full details on how to transition your account see Upgrading a Zotero Account to the UWaterloo Institutional Storage on the Online Learning Object Respository.
