External borrowers

Patrons under this category have the following borrowing privileges:

  • Borrow material from any of the TriUniversity Group of Libraries (TUG) (University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and University of Guelph)
  • Renew borrowed books indefinitely as long as no one else has recalled them
  • Request books from other TUG libraries and from the Annex
  • Can’t place recall requests for signed out library material

Alumni

  • Use your alumni WatCard to register with the Library for free at any library Circulation desk
  • Alumni also have access to select electronic resources. Consult the alumni electronic resources page for more information

Community borrowers

  • Adults residing within Ontario may register for two years at a time free of charge
  • To obtain a borrower card you must present proof of residency showing your name and address

High school students

  • For no cost, high school students from schools within Waterloo Region, Wellington Catholic School Board, and the Upper Grand School Board may register for a period of September 1 until the following June 15
  • The Library requests a letter of introduction from a principal or school librarian validating your need to use an academic library
  • Learn more about high school class visits to the Library

David Johnston Research + Technology (R+T) Park employees

Individuals working in the R+T Park are eligible for a free borrowing card at the Library.
