What is UWSpace?

UWSpace is an open access institutional repository provided by the University of Waterloo Library for the research and scholarship produced at the University of Waterloo. UWSpace provides a free, secure, and long-term home for the presentation, dissemination, and preservation of Waterloo’s digital research and scholarship. By utilizing UWSpace members of the Waterloo community ensure their work is accessible for discovery, examination, and reuse.

Who can submit?

UWSpace accepts the scholarship and research generated by our designated community during their affiliation with the university: Faculty, Students, and Staff.

Note: Submissions from external researchers will be accepted if they are produced in collaboration with a member of our designated community.

What types of research are currently accepted?

UWSpace currently accepts:

  • Graduate theses and dissertations

  • Faculty & Staff

    • Peer-reviewed journal articles

      • final full-text peer-reviewed manuscript (the post-print)

      • the version published in the journal (publisher's version)

    • Conference Papers

    • Technical Paper

    • White Papers

The initial phase of the UWSpace Expansion Project will focus on peer-reviewed journal publications. The content type is connected with the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications that requires that Agency-supported research be freely accessible online within 12 months of publication. Submission to an institutional repository such as UWSpace will meet this requirement. UWSpace is expanding to include other content types. As this occurs the submission policies for these content types will be outlined here.
