2026 Math Fall Convocation

The University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics celebrated its Fall 2026 Convocation on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Physical Activities Complex (PAC). The ceremony recognized graduates from undergraduate and graduate programs in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Combinatorics and Optimization, Pure Mathematics and Data Science. Family, friends, faculty and staff gathered to celebrate the graduates’ dedication, resilience and achievements as they marked this important milestone, embarked on the next chapter of their journeys and joined Waterloo’s global alumni community.

Alumni Awards Celebration and Alumni Career Success Panel

The University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics hosted its annual Alumni Awards Celebration and Alumni Career Success Panel on October 1, 2026, recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions of five distinguished alumni. The day celebrated the recipients of the J.W. Graham Medal, Alumni Achievement Medal and G.O.L.D. Alumni Achievement Medal, honouring their accomplishments across industry, entrepreneurship and research. Later, the Alumni Career Success Panel brought the award recipients together to share their career journeys, lessons learned and advice with current students. The event concluded with a networking reception, providing students with an opportunity to connect with accomplished alumni and gain insights into career opportunities and the evolving world of mathematics and technology.

2026 Math Homecoming

The University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics hosted Math Homecoming 2026 on Saturday, September 19, under the theme “Class is Back in Session: Come Home to Math.” The event welcomed alumni back to campus to reconnect with classmates, faculty and friends while celebrating class milestones ranging from their 5th to 60th anniversaries.

The day featured campus tours, a nostalgic Math 135 lecture, visits to the Computer Museum and CS452 Train Lab, an alumni lunch and a scavenger hunt. The celebration brought together generations of Math alumni to reminisce, share experiences and strengthen their connection to the Waterloo Math community.

The event featured a mix of nostalgic experiences and hands-on activities, including a Math 135 class session, guided campus tours, the Computer Museum, the CS452 Trains Lab, an interactive scavenger hunt and an Alumni Lunch. It provided a meaningful opportunity for alumni to revisit familiar spaces, share memories and strengthen their connection to the Faculty of Mathematics.
