Biographical sketch: Gordon Hagey (1894-1956) was the son of Simon and Nancy (Moyer) Hagey. He married Sarah “Melinda” Snyder (1897-1981) in 1917. The couple had six children, and farmed at Dickie Settlement in North Dumfries. They were members of the Hagey Mennonite Church in Preston, Ontario (now part of Cambridge). A significant number of their ancestors and contemporary family members were farmers in the rural areas around Preston and Kossuth.  

Custodial history: Donated to the Archives by Sherwood Hagey in 2017 

Scope and content: The fonds consists primarily of photographs of the family, homes and ancestors of Gordon and Sarah "Melinda" (Snyder) Hagey. Family groupings pictured include: Gordon Hagey's parents Nancy (Moyer) Hagey and Simon Hagey; Gordon Hagey's grandparents Noah and Wilhelmina (Krieger) Moyer; and Gordon Hagey's sister Ida (Hagey) Groh and Norman Groh. Also included are Melinda (Snyder) Hagey's parents Sarah (Reist) and Levi Snyder. A small collection of textual records including notes on family history and genealogy, and probated wills, are included.
