Biographical sketch: Josiah S. Moyer was born in 1845 to Henry and Catharine (Schiedel) Moyer on a farm near Breslau, Ontario. He married Lydia Ann Shantz in 1868. Ezra Eby's A biographical history of early settlers and their descendants in Waterloo Township lists him as farming in Remus, Michigan.

Custodial history: Purchased by Roger Miller at an antique market in Millington, Michigan. Vendor claims it was purchased at auction in Mecosta County, Michigan. Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario in 2009 by Roger Miller.

Scope and content: Contains the account book of Josiah S. Moyer, begun in 1870. Several pages have been removed. Accounts are listed for the years 1879-1885; several entries appear to describe business activities in the Breslau area. One page of recipes is included.
