Administrative history: The church was located 21 km east of Bancroft.
The congregation began services in 1947, and formally organized in 1952. The first building was occupied in 1954. The congregation originated through outreach of the Ontario Mennonite Mission Board. After the division in the Mennonite Conference of Ontario in 1960, this congregation became part of the Conservative Mennonite Church of Ontario, and the building was transferred to the new group.
The one long term mission worker at Fort Stewart was Elvon Burkholder (1954-1960)
