Administrative history: The Jane Finch Faith Community was first known as the Black Creek Faith Community.
The congregation formally organized in 1993. Dalton Jantzi is considered the founding leader of the group; he began a chaplaincy program in the building in 1980. The congregation originated through outreach by the Missions Committee of the Mennonite Conference of Ontario and Quebec.
The congregation is based in a public housing apartment building in Metropolitan Toronto.
