Title: Jacob Lehman family
Dates of creation: ca. 1996
Physical description: 1 cm of textual materials
Biographical sketch: Jacob Lehman (ca.1727-1796) was born in Europe and died in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was married twice, to Catherine Longnecker, and Sara (surname unknown). Their daughter Elizabeth married Abraham Grove (1770-1836); this couple moved to the Markham area in 1803. Elizabeth's brother Abraham Lehman, his wife Maria Stewig and their children followed the Groves to Markham. Abraham and Maria's son John was a deacon in the Risser church. John mysteriously disappeared one Sunday about 1850.
Some of the family moved to Tuscola County, Michigan after 1880; many descendants were residing in the Stouffville area at the time this genealogy was compiled.
Custodial history: This genealogy was compiled by Harriet Muhrlein, a descendant. A copy was sent to Lorna Bergey in 1996 and transferred to the Archives in 2009 as part of Lorna Bergey's fonds.
Scope and content: Contains a letter from Harriet Muhrhein to Lorna Bergey outlining the family story, and a genealogy of Jacob Lehman.
