Title: Johannes and Hanna (Bergey) Bingemann family fonds
Dates of creation: 1805, [18--?]
Physical description: 2 pages of textual records
Biographical sketch: Johannes Bingemann (1783-1854) was married to Hanna Bergey (1787-1868) in 1805 in Providence (probably Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania). They were married by an Evangelical Lutheran minister. Twelve children are noted in the family marriage register, though Ezra Eby's Biographical History of Waterloo Township lists 14. They moved to Bridgeport, Ontario in 1825, and the following summer moved to a farm on the east side of the Grand River.
Custodial history: Donated to the Archives by Bryan Trussler in 2017
Scope and content: Consists of a marriage certificate to which the names and birth years of 12 children have been added (a piece of the certificate is missing), and a recipe for a medicinal cure, probably for livestock. A transcription and translation of the marriage certificate has been provided by Erica Janzen.
Notes: Original archival description created 2017 by Laureen Harder-Gissing.
Generally 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. An appointment in advance is recommended.
