Title: Abe Wiebe fonds

Biographical sketch: Abe Wiebe (1925-   ) was born in Ukraine. His family immigrated from Russia to Manitoba in 1928. In the early 1940s he moved to Ontario and was involved in a variety of business enterprises. He entered the real estate business in 1951. He became the developer of the land that became the University of Waterloo.

Custodial history: Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by J. Winfield Fretz in 1980.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of the transcript of an interview of Abe Wiebe by J. Winfield Fretz on September 14, 1977. The focus of the interview is the story of gathering the land that became the University, but also covers some of Wiebe's personal history.
