Title: Clifford Snyder fonds

Biographical Sketch: Clifford Snyder (1914-1947) was a Mennonite missionary from Kitchener, Ontario. He and his wife Doris and their two children departed for service in Argentina, under the auspices of the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, in 1947. Clifford died en route of a cerebral haemorrhage on 11 April and was buried at sea. He was 33 years of age. A memorial service was held for him at his home congregation in Kitchener, First Mennonite Church, on 27 April. A memorial fund was established in his memory to train missionaries for the foreign field.

Custodial history: The scrapbook was transferred to the Archives in the early 1990s; the remaining items were transferred to the Archives in November 1996.

Scope and content: The scrapbook consists of letters and memorabilia about Clifford Snyder assembled by his sisters. The sermon notes were donated by C. Arnold Snyder, Clifford's son, as were the copies of the death certificate and photocopies of Frank Byler's diary from the voyage on which Clifford Snyder died.
