Biographical sketch: Herbert P. Enns (20 January 1912-20 November 1999) was the son of Peter K. and Maria Enns. Peter was a schoolteacher in the Molotschnaia Colony of Ukraine. His family was part of the first group to emigrate to Canada in 1924, and came to Waterloo at that time. Herbert worked for the Bean Printing Company for many years. His interest in history made him a founding member of the Mennonite Historical Society of Ontario. He was an active member of that society until a few years before his death. He wrote a number of historical articles, and was the key author of the history of the Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church.

On 2 September 1931 Herbert Enns married Marie Warkentin, daughter of Jacob and Anna Warkentin. They had one daughter, Carol Ruth. Herbert and Marie lived in Waterloo their entire lives. Marie passed away in February 1995.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to the Archives on a variety of occasions by Herbert P. Enns.

Scope and contents: Miscellaneous correspondence, a hymnbook and historical items, some of which are translated by Enns.
