Biographical sketch: Johann Cornies (1789-1848) was a major leader in the Molotschna Colony in Ukraine in the first half of the 19th century.
Custodial history: Originals held by Mr. Philipp Wiebe, Kingsville, Ont.; photocopied by Frank H. Epp in 1977 for the Archives.
Scope and content: The photocopies deal with the division of the Cornies estate about 1879. A translation was made in Germany in 1942 when the German occupation of the Ukraine brought hopes that former properties could be reclaimed.
