Biographical sketch: Johanness Friesen is the son of Kornelius Friesen and Maria (nee Enns). He was born in 1920 in the village of Dejevka (Zdanovka) in Orenburg Colony, taught school in the late 1930s, served in the Great Patriotic War (Second World War) and spend 14 years in a Soviet labour camp. He was released in 1956. He now lives in Tula, in the Russian Federation.
Custodial history: These records were sent by Pyotr Friesen, Johannes Freisen's grandson in 2010.
Scope and content: Consists of a memoir in letter format written by Johannes Friesen and translated by Pyotr Friesen.
