Title: Jonas Snider family fonds
Dates of creation: 1830-1985
Physical description: 15 cm of textual records
Biographical sketch: Jonas Snider (1858-1944), the son of Elias and Hannah Bingeman Snider, was ordained as a Mennonite minister for the Erb Street Mennonite Church on June 24, 1892; and as a bishop on Nov. 17, 1895. He married Lucy Ann Snider (1857-1886) in 1879. They had four children. In 1887 he married Susannah Horst (1862-1933); they had nine children. He retired in 1935. Scope and content: The fonds consists of material removed from the 1876 Jonas Snider Bible (Cleveland, Ohio : Evangelishe Germeinschaft), and various other items donated by the family.
Custodial history: Files 1-4 were donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Merlyn Martin on April 29, 1999. Files 5-9 were donated to the Archives by Yvonne Nighswander in August, 2013. Fonds classification was changed in 2013 from Hist.Mss.2.55 to Hist.Mss.1.273.
