Biographical sketch: Joseph Leis ( Feb. 9, 1817-July 6, 1896) was born in Bavaria. He married Catharine Kennel on Mar. 19, 1844; they had 13 children. Leis immigrated to Waterloo County, Ontario; he became a farmer in Wellesley Township.

Custodial history: Donated by Joseph Leis to Mennonite Archives of Ontario ca. 1970. Received from J. Winfield Fretz.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of four legal documents.
