Biographical sketch​: Joseph Meyer Snyder (1877-1944) was a local historian and genealogist who collected historical and genealogical information relating primarily to the Joseph and Barbara (Eby) Schneider family. Much of this information was published in Hannes Schneider and his wife Catharine Haus Schneider: Their Descendants and Times, 1534-1939.- Kitchener, ON : Miriam Helen Snyder.- 1937 [sic; clearly published later]. Snyder was a life-long resident of Kitchener, a member of Bethany Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church, and was employed as an accountant by Kauffman Rubber.

Custodial history​: The fonds was donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Joseph Meyer Snyder's daughter, Miriam Snyder Sokvitne, in 1994.

Scope and content​: The fonds consists of newsclippings, photographs, books, periodicals, newspapers, ephemera, scrapbooks and ledgers collected by Joseph M. Snyder, Snyder's father David B. Schneider, and Snyder's daughter Miriam Snyder Sokvitne. It has been arranged into nine series:
