Biographical sketch: Peter Gerhard Janzen was born 22 December 1903 in the Memrik Colony, South Russia. He emigrated to Canada in 1917. He married Elizabeth Tiessen (17 September 1907-28 February 1998) on 23 November 1930. They had two children. They lived on the Niagara Peninsula until their deaths. Peter was a gardener and nurseryman by profession. He died 27 January 1998 in Vineland, Ontario.
Custodial history: Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Elsie Janzen Flaming on 14 June 2006.
Scope and content: The collection consists of a "Tagebuch" (Daybook) that consists of a diary that covers the time just prior to emigration until 2 January 1928. With the "Tagebuch" is a typescript translation of the diary. The translation was by Tina Warkentin Bohn.
