Title: Philip Wismer fonds

Biographical sketch: Philip Wismer (Aug. 31, 1810-Mar. 14, 1897) married Margaret High on Jan. 20, 1836. They had five sons and seven daughters. Wismer was ordained as a deacon for the Vineland (or Jordan) congregation (now The First Mennonite Church, Vineland)  in 1851. He is described as an active deacon; with a stout build.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of his memorandum book, a handwritten copy of the memorandum book (by S.F. Coffman), and a typescript of "Copy of a record concerning the Russian Mennonites immigration to Canada in the years 1874-1880."

Custodial history: Donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario after 1982. Further items received from the Archives of the Mennonite Church in 2012 are noted, below.
