Title: Rufus Jutzi fonds

Biographical sketch: Rufus Jutzi (1915-2011) was the son of Simeon and Leah (Gascho). The family farmed in Wilmot Township. From June 1942- December 1943, Rufus Jutzi was a conscientious objector serving in Alternative Service camps in British Columbia. He served at Goldstream (Langford, B.C.), Cowichan (Lake Cowichan, B.C.) and Hill 60 (Duncan, B.C.). In October 1943, on leave, he married Ruth Good. The couple had five children.

Following the war, Jutzi became a pastor, serving at Floradale, Preston, Listowel, Tavistock, Pioneer Park and Bluesky Mennonite churches. From 1976-1980 he was national manager of the Mennonite Foundation of Canada.

Custodial history: Donated to the Archives by Terry Jutzi in 2015.

Scope and content: The fonds consists mainly of sermons, wedding and funeral mediations, and other talks prepared and presented by Rufus Jutzi. A diary and notes from his time in Alternative Service is also included. The fonds is organized essentially as Jutzi left them. Several of the files contain sermon indexes he prepared.
