Basim Salim is a marketing leader, educator, Imam, and community mentor based in Waterloo Region. He currently teaches marketing, media, and communications courses at several post-secondary institutions, including York University, the University of Guelph-Humber, and Conestoga College.
Basim holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Marketing) from York University, a Bachelor of Religious Studies from Laurentian University, and an MBA from McMaster University.
In 2010, Basim travelled to Amman to study classical Arabic and the traditional Islamic sciences. After several years abroad pursuing religious studies and travelling the Middle East, he returned to Canada in 2020 to continue both his professional work and his service to the Muslim community.
Basim currently serves as the Imam at ICNA Al-Falah Kitchener Mosque, where he leads prayers, delivers Friday sermons, teaches educational programs, and supports community members through mentorship and pastoral care.
