By 2030, 75 million people will be diagnosed with dementia worldwide. Many of them will be sexually active. But how can they consent to sex?

The Waterloo Innovation Summit 2017 will bring together some of the world’s top private and public sector leaders to tackle the disruptive and defining trends that are driving innovation in Canada and globally. 

Hosted by the University of Waterloo, with presenting sponsor Communitech, this event taking place from September 13 to 15, 2017 will engage and inspire CEOs, entrepreneurs, academic, community and policy leaders.  

Four professors from three faculties are being honoured for their exceptional teaching with the University’s most prestigious teaching honour - the Distinguished Teacher Award (DTA).

The awards will be presented at the spring convocation ceremonies by Mario Coniglio, associate vice-president, academic. In addition to the citation, the four professors will also receive $1,500 to pursue teaching excellence. The 2017 recipients are:

Thirty teams of high school students with a passion for designing, building and programming robots will be competing at the annual Ontario District University of Waterloo FIRST Robotics Competition this weekend. 2017 marks the 13th year of FIRST Robotics Competitions (FRC) at the University of Waterloo, the longest-running FRC event in Canada.

This tragedy leaves our campus in mourning, and we offer our deepest sympathies to the student’s family and friends.

We know this is a very difficult time and we take to heart the concerns we’ve heard from our campus community. We thank those who have shared their views with us, including through a petition on the subject of mental health supports on campus.

Gendered Violence on Campus: Institutional Policy and Practice coincides with the recent implementation of the University of Waterloo’s Policy 42, Prevention and Response to Sexual Violence.
