The University of Waterloo, in partnership with the Waterloo Public Library John M. Harper Branch and the Stork Family YMCA will host a day of free family programming tomorrow.

The event, called Waterloo West Neighbour Fest, encourages local families to come out and make connections in the community through a variety of family-friendly activities. There were more than 200 participants last year. Students from the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at Waterloo organize and run the event.

Catarina de Albuquerque, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to safe drinking water and sanitation, will participate in a virtual public lecture and live panel event titled The right to WaSH; the right to health on Monday. The event is part of the Another Drop lecture series hosted by the UN University Institute for Water, Environment and Health at the McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, November 20, 2013) – A University of Waterloo professor and expert on home-grown terrorism joins a public discussion next week to talk about Canadian terrorists.

Professor Lorne Dawson joins researchers from four other universities at Research Matters, a panel discussion moderated by journalist and broadcaster Piya Chattopadhyay, on November 26, at the London Children’s Museum. The free event is open to the public and the second of five in the Research Matters speaker series that takes place across Ontario during the next six months.

Jenna Bott wanted to broaden her university experience so she decided to volunteer in Uganda, helping orphans and vulnerable children get to school and gain access to food and school supplies.

Tickets are now available for Professor Chris Hadfield's free public lecture that will take place next month at the University of Waterloo.

He was the first Canadian astronaut to command the International Space Station, and is now retired from the Canadian Space Agency. He will join Waterloo as an adjunct professor of aviation next fall.

Tom Higgins still has an old certificate from a University of Waterloo math contest that he wrote when he was a kid. He had it framed and on his wall when he was 14 years old. It meant that much to him.
