January is Alzheimer Awareness Month in Canada. The following University of Waterloo experts are available to comment on current research, as well as treatment and care of people with dementia.

Current research focuses on a new method of detecting Alzheimer's disease by looking into the eye. The discovery may lead to earlier and less expensive testing and better treatment for patients.

(Friday, Jan. 11, 2013) - Lego robots, along with creative thinking, problem-solving skills and teamwork, will be in action at the University of Waterloo on Sunday, January 13, 2013 as 400 children aged nine to 14 compete in the 2012 FIRST Lego League (FLL) West Provincial Championships.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013) - Grade 10 students and their parents are invited to attend an information session next week about planning for a university education.

Grade 10 Family Night, which will take place at the University of Waterloo on Wednesday, January 16, will help students learn what they can do now to prepare for applying to Ontario's universities.

“While Grade 10 may seem early for students to learn about university, it’s never too early to start planning,” said Valerie Herteis, Waterloo’s manager of liaison.
