Dr. Sallie Ann Keller has stepped down from her position as Vice-President, Academic & Provost at the University of Waterloo, effective immediately. Dr. Keller cited personal reasons for her decision to resign.
"On behalf of the University of Waterloo, I would like to wish Professor Keller well as she begins the next stage of her distinguished career, and thank her for her contributions to the university community," said President & Vice-Chancellor Feridun Hamdullahpur.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Friday, Jan. 18, 2013)— If you think dementia only afflicts the elderly, just ask Mary Beth Wighton. At the age of 45, Wighton was diagnosed with frontotemporal lobe dementia, a rare form of dementia with no treatment or cure.
“Being so young with a diagnosis of dementia baffled people,” said Wighthon.

Current research focuses on a new method of detecting Alzheimer's disease by looking into the eye. The discovery may lead to earlier and less expensive testing and better treatment for patients.

Grade 10 Family Night, which will take place at the University of Waterloo on Wednesday, January 16, will help students learn what they can do now to prepare for applying to Ontario's universities.
“While Grade 10 may seem early for students to learn about university, it’s never too early to start planning,” said Valerie Herteis, Waterloo’s manager of liaison.
