(Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011) - A leading meteorology expert will examine new perspectives being used by the climate change community to assess threats to critical resources of water, food, energy, human health and ecosystem function during a public lecture this week at the University of Waterloo.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011) - The senior research advisor to the Canadian Index of Wellbeing - a national index measuring wellbeing that goes beyond the gross domestic product - will give a public lecture at the University of Waterloo this week to share insights on its creation.

Alex Michalos, Hallman Visiting Professor, will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 28 to talk about the challenges of developing a national wellbeing index and give some initial thoughts on the full composite index that will be released in October.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Aug. 8, 2011) - The University of Waterloo is inviting members of the public to participate in a star-gazing party on Friday, Aug. 12.

The free event, which runs from 8:15 p.m. until midnight, features presentations on meteors and astrophysics and offers visitors of all ages a chance to explore the night sky with telescopes and star charts.

Members from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and some of Waterloo’s astronomy faculty and students will also be on hand to answer any questions star-gazers may have.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Tuesday, July 19, 2011) - University of Waterloo engineering students will display product designs this week that offer innovative solutions to challenges occurring in such diverse sports activities as bike racing, judo and tennis.

On Friday, 12 student groups in a third-year systems design engineering course will present a product design exhibition on sports engineering. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room 1301 of the William G. Davis Computer Research Centre.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, July 14, 2011) - The University of Waterloo will announce next week the winner of a student contest to redesign the university's south campus gateway, the area around South Campus Hall and the entrance road that links to Seagram Drive and crosses University Avenue.
