WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Dec. 6, 2010) - More than 1,000 Ontario high school students will learn about health and movement at the University of Waterloo's Kinesiology Lab Days taking place weekdays from Dec. 7 to 16.

The program, hosted by Waterloo's department of kinesiology, was established 37 years ago to showcase the relatively new field of kinesiology at the time - the science of human movement. Since then, the University of Waterloo has established itself as an international leader in kinesiology research and education.

WATERLOO, Ont., (Friday, Dec. 3, 2010) - High school students in Waterloo Region will participate in Canada's only federal-provincial government conference simulation at the University of Waterloo next Tuesday (Dec. 7) and Wednesday (Dec. 8).

The simulation, organized by Waterloo's political science department and the regional history heads association, has been held at the university for 45 years.

The Globe and Mail columnist will deliver the talk that was postponed on Friday, Nov. 12, when she was invited to discuss her new book Helpless: Caledonia's Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy, and How the Law Failed All of Us.

(Monday, Nov. 22, 2010) - Four top researchers at the University of Waterloo will give presentations at a two-day conference in Toronto marking the first decade of the Canada Research Chairs program, a key part of the federal government's strategy to position the country as an international leader in research and development.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010) - The 50th anniversary of the laser will be celebrated at the University of Waterloo with a free public lecture next week.

The laser has transformed the way we live and is considered to be one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. Donna Strickland, a professor of physics and astronomy, will explore how the laser works and its impact on society during a talk entitled The Laser Turns 50.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Nov. 10, 2010) - Maclean's magazine has once again recognized the University of Waterloo as having the best reputation of any Canadian university.

Waterloo has again emerged as the top university in the Reputation Survey of the Maclean's annual rankings of Canadian universities. Waterloo has also taken the top spot in three of the four reputation subcategories – Best Overall, Most Innovative and Leaders of Tomorrow – and finished second in the subcategory measuring Highest Quality.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Monday, Nov. 1, 2010) - The University of Waterloo will offer an in-depth look at the university and campus life for prospective students and their families at an all-day event on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Close to 5,000 visitors are expected at the University of Waterloo's fall open house - mostly on the main campus, with some at Waterloo's school of architecture in Cambridge and school of pharmacy in Kitchener. The event is held as students are making up their minds about which universities best suit their needs.

WATERLOO, Ont. (Friday, Oct. 29, 2010) -- Earlier this year, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University took the difficult decision to seek a new director for the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA). The decision to replace any administrator is a serious one, requiring extensive thought and careful attention to process.
