Estimating in Projects
This session will help attendees think about the what, why, how and when of estimating in projects. In addition, we will go through many techniques and examples of different ways to estimate - both in waterfall and Agile approaches to project management.

Speaker bios:
Stacey Mahoney – Information Systems Specialist, IST
Stacey has been a member of the Student Information Systems team in IST for the past 7 years and at Waterloo as an employee for 18. Over her years working at UWaterloo she has worked in Admissions, Student Awards, Pensions, HR Systems, Project Management Office and Student Systems. In the most recent years; Stacey has focused her education and her experiences in IT Project Management. Her successful experience as the Project Manager (2017-2018) on the re-implementation of the Ontario Universities Application Centre load of data into QUEST was her first experience using a more agile approach and she has continued to use agile tools and approaches on all of the recent projects she has worked on.
Wendy Hague – Project Manager, IST
Wendy has extensive project management experience gained through working at a number of different organizations throughout her career. She obtained her PMP (Project Management Professional) designation in 2001.
In addition to managing projects, Wendy has experience implementing project management software, launching a Project Management Office, leading teams of project managers, developing project management methodologies, and overseeing a project portfolio.
Wendy has worked at the University of Waterloo for 7 years as a project manager in the PMO within IT. During this event, she will share her experience working with project teams to obtain work estimates.
