Nushrat Nazia is a PhD Candidate under the supervision of Professor Jane Law at the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Nushrat has a multi-disciplinary background in Geographic Information Systems(G.I.S.), environmental sciences and management, public health, and spatial statistics. Her current research centers on developing COVID-19 surveillance using spatial methods for monitoring spatial and spatiotemporal dynamics of the disease using G.I.S. and remote sensing technologies.

Nushrat's primary research interests lie in using both frequentist and Bayesian spatial statistical models and applying them in public health, aging, communicable and non-communicable disease, and environmental research. Nushrat is also currently appointed as a sessional lecturer at the Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment at the University of Toronto, Mississauga.
