The Roundtable was a opportunity to discuss the Risk Management, Economic Sustainability and Actuarial Science Development in Indonesia (READI) Project’s Ultimate Outcome, to have Indonesia recognized as a centre of excellence in actuarial science and risk management, with attention to gender equity. The roundtable participants looked at ways to measure the projects outcomes and established the following key indicators:
- Indonesian university actuarial science programs are internationally recognized for their quality
- Indonesian actuarial science programs are delivered by highly qualified faculty with a reputation for teaching excellence and they deliver a high quality curriculum, graduates have high employability rates
- Indonesia is viewed as a source of capital, high quality actuaries and as a safe investment opportunity by other countries
- Relevant research outcomes are internationally recognized
- Actuaries educated in Indonesia are skilled at applying their knowledge
- There is a broad understanding within Indonesia of what actuaries are and what they do. Socialization, via multiple channels and agencies, including Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), should start at the level of kindergarten
- Measure the number of actuarial science study programs with National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN A) accreditation
Other important topics on the agenda were to look at retention rates of female actuaries when moving from students into the workforce and looking at project risks and the importance of hiring and retaining high quality faculty members into the Indonesian institutions. Overall the Roundtable was valuable in addressing project concerns and risks and implementing solutions to secure the READI projects success.
