On the right track
On Wednesday, June 19, The Strategic Plan Executive Committee (SPEC) hosted an Open House to share all the work done on the Future of Science Strategic Plan to date. We shared everything from the Mission and Vision down to the goals and actions associated with our ARC priorities (Academic, Research, Community)
Visitors were asked to fill out a short Open House Passport survey to indicate whether they thought the SPEC was on the right track and we heard resoundingly that yes, the material shared was how they also see the Future of Science at Waterloo. In each of the seven areas of content, we scored over four (on average) on a five-point scale. This tells us that we are headed in the right direction.
Thank you to everyone who came to STC to participate. We had a lot of great conversations with staff, faculty, and students that day.
We had 143 entries for the Open House Passport prize draw. Here are the winners:
- Isaac Newkirk, Undergraduate student (Biology)
- Shahrzad Tofighi, Master's student (Physics)
- Anoosha Trehan, Undergraduate student (Biotechnology/CPA)
- Neha Saini, Post Doctoral Fellow (Chemistry)
Each one of them received $100 gift card at the W Store.
The next steps will be to combine any additional feedback collected from the larger online survey and to look at results within the SPEC. This summer, we will take all the finalized information and create the Future of Science playbook. We are excited about the final stages of this project and can’t wait to share it with the Science community in the Fall!
