Kayla joined the Sensorimotor Control and Learning Lab (SCiLL) in fall 2023 as a doctoral student. Kayla's doctoral studies are co-supervised by Professor Meehan and Professor Richard Staines.
Kayla’s research interests include mechanisms of sensorimotor integration, motor learning and brain plasticity, specifically relating how the brain changes in response to injury.
Prior to joining the SCiLL lab, Kayla completed their Master's of Science degree in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo in 2023. Kayla's thesis supervisor was Professor Richard Staines. Kayla’s Master's thesis research used electroencephalography (EEG) to investigate persistent adaptations in how individuals with a history of concussion manage the abundance of sensory information converging in the brain (known as "sensory gating").
Kayla also completed their Bachelor of Science degree in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo in 2021.
