Kate Tucker (she/her)
Hey Shads! My name is Kate and I am so excited to meet you this summer! I grew up in Newfoundland and was first introduced to Shad in 2018 when I had an incredible July at Western- I am so happy to be back for my second summer as a program assistant at Waterloo! I currently study at the University of New Brunswick where I am wrapping up my master's in health services research, specifically looking at primary care access for older adults. I also completed my undergrad at UNB in interdisciplinary leadership and health science.
I am super passionate about community development and the intersections of social justice and STEM, I am active with multiple youth health advocacy organizations and groups promoting gender equity. I love to be outside (especially with my dog), am an active runner and skier, and am always looking for my next craft/DIY project (I recently started knitting again am hoping to tell you about my first complete sweater when we meet in July)!
