The Vision and Motor Performance Lab (V&MP) is located in the School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of Waterloo, Canada. V&MP aims to understand how humans collect and use visual information from their environment to navigate their surroundings and to complete complex motor tasks. For example, when heading a ball in soccer, one must accurately judge the speed and direction of the ball visually, and then use this information to decide when is the right time to jump and hit the ball with one’s head. Our passion is in understanding how this process occurs, from the initial collection of the visual information, to its integration with the motor system in the brain, and finally, to its impact on motor coordination and performance.
