Jeremy is interested in the way people experience the spectrum of attentional states, from mindlessness to deep concentration, focusing mainly on mind-wandering and the experience of flow.
As someone who has always been lost in thought, Jeremy is interested in how we define mind-wandering, and what the behavioural consequences of these different definitions might be. On the other end of the spectrum, he studies the cognitive mechanisms that give rise to “flow”, a state of deep, effortless concentration. He is also interested in the relationship between inattention and new technologies, such as smartphones. In his spare time, Jeremy stays active through both genuine exercise, and attempting to injure himself in a variety of outdoor sports.
