The Composite Biomaterial Systems Laboratory seeks highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic individuals to work on two-year (MASc) or four-year (PhD) projects under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Willett, PhD, PEng, Assistant Professor, Biomedical Enginering Program, Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Candidates must hold a BASc/BSc or greater degree in applied science/engineering or another relevant field of study. Stipends will be commensurate with institutional guidelines. The eligibility for and pursuit of scholarships (NSERC, CIHR, OGS, etc.) is a requirement.
Current
opportunities
include
projects
regarding:
a)
The
development
of
mechanically
competent
multi-scale
nanocomposite
biomaterials
for
skeletal
reconstruction
through
the
application
of
biomateriomics
and
additive
manufacturing.
b)
Mechanics
of
composite
biomaterials
and
tissues,
with
a
specific
interest
in
cortical
bone
fracture
mechanics
and
the
effects
of
ageing,
disease
and
tissue
processing.
