Core research facilities are overseen by a Core Research Facilities Board (CRFB).
The CRFB:
- Is responsible for coordinating the additional support provided by the University to officially recognize CRFs.
- Reviews applications from prospective CRFs and recommends to University leadership regarding recognition as a Waterloo CRF.
- Reviews annual reports from CRFs and makes recommendations to University leadership on continued CRF status.
- Advises the Director and Facility Manager on the steps needed to maintain CRF status if a facility is at risk of not fulfilling its responsibilities. Should the CRFB determine that a CRF cannot meet its obligations, it will recommend to University leadership the withdrawal of CRF status.
