Statistical Consulting and Survey Research Unit

The Statistical Consulting and Survey Research Unit (SCSRU) supports the University of Waterloo community by integrating high‑quality statistical analysis and survey methodology into research conducted by faculty, students, and staff. The Unit also provides a professional training environment in which graduate students in Statistics and Actuarial Science (SAS) deliver expert statistical consulting, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and research excellence across the university.

Statistical consulting

The SCSRU is the unit through which the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science provides statistical advice to those working on research problems.

SCSRU can help with:

  • Designing experiments and other studies
  • Monitoring intermediate stages of long-term projects
  • Analyzing data and interpreting results
  • Contacting an expert in the particular area of statistics or mathematics which you wish to use
  • Arranging a presentation on a statistical topic

Survey Research

The SCSRU provides a full suite of services from a single consultation on the design of the survey instrument to a complete package of survey design, implementation, analysis, and more. Our services are expertly tailored to meet your project needs.

Our focus is on maintaining a high standard of social science research for clients that include: academic researchers (both at the University of Waterloo and other institutions), university administration, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
