WCMS technical update (Kevin Paxman)

  • Focus points in this sprint include assembling the 2.7.1 release, Drupal 8, and Open Scholar. The full list is on the Web Resources site.
  • Features expected in 2.7.1 include new vertical timeline style; overhaul of "responsive menu" for greatly improved accessibility; accessibility checker in CKeditor (the "WYSIWYG" editor); Waterloo Photos integration, calendar appearance, iCal link name.
  • Expecting a security release for Drupal 8 today; Drupal 7 not expected to have a release, but some contrib modules may need to be updated
  • Developing a survey to send out in the near future for feedback on the WCMS in preparation for our Drupal 8 version.

Important Dates project (Joe Kwan, Marta Bailey, Danielle Jeanneault)

GDPR updated (Joe Kwan)

  • Moving ahead with some initial content, speaking with Legal & Immigration Services (Yanick Charbonneau)
  • A brief statement will be rolled in the near future, followed by more robust functionality and changes to our privacy statement
  • Will distribute the statement to committee once it is rolled out

Drupal 7 development freeze

  • Will start at the end of term, redirect the team to Drupal 8
  • This will allow the team more time to focus on Drupal 8, will engage with committee to keep everyone informed and aware of the next steps
  • We realize that we still need to meet business needs and in some cases are open to working with external developers if appropriate
    • We also want to ensure what is built for you by any external developers meets your needs and is inline with Drupal 8
