Minutes of 21 December 2022 and Business Arising

The minutes were accepted as distributed. No business arising.

Chair's Remarks (Don Duff-McCracken)

  • Thanked everyone for his time as chair to this committee, will still be a part of WAC just in a different capacity, it has been a pleasure to work with everyone.
  • Thanks to everyone for their nominations and happy to announce that Tom Graham was introduced and welcomed as the new Chair for a two-year term.

WCMS 3 Development update (Kevin Paxman)

  • WCMS 3.2.2 was released just before the winter break. Full release notes are on the Web Resources site, but it was a hotfix release for an issue with the display of contacts that shipped with 3.2.1, so there were only a couple of theming-related changes.
  • Focus points in the current sprint include:
    • Fixing issues with syncing profiles from contacts
    • Theming for background options for sections
    • Shipping publication reference (BibCite) functionality!
  • WCMS 3.2.3 is expected to ship sometime in the next couple of weeks, once the publication reference work has passed final QA testing
  • Note that migration from WCMS 2’s bibliography content type to publication references is expected to ship at a later date

Drupal core security release today – minor enough that we will just ship with our next release

WCMS 3 Migration Update (Charlotte Armstrong)

342 sites on WCMS 3 (+42 since last WAC meeting on Dec. 21)

724 sites on WCMS 2. 561 FDSU, 31 Publication, 82 Single page sites, 50 Conference sites.

6 co-ops are full-speed ahead with remediations. We’ve already remediated 4 sites and are working on another one today, with more in the queue.

Reminders

  • When submitting migration requests, if you have a preferred date for your site’s migration, please include that in the note section of the form. The more notice we receive, the greater your chances of being in the queue at your desired time.
  • If your plan is to do a site overhaul while the migrated site is still in staging, submit a spreadsheet or list of pages you are working on so that we don’t remediate them.
  • Site launches are still Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Remediation training workshop is Thursday afternoons. We need at least one week’s notice to register. This training is just for staff and co-op students that will be remediating a site. If our WCMS co-ops will be remediating your site, you do not need to attend the workshop.
  • Reminder that our site creation, launch, and migration pause will regularly be the last week of the term and the first week of the co-op term. The upcoming pause is April 24 – May 5 with migrations/launches/site creations beginning again the week of May 8

Kudos

  • Elizabeth from Faculty of Arts for migrating a few more departmental sites and sending in the migration request early so we could use them to help train our co-op team!
  • Jessica Barch with the help of Tom, Bernice and their team at UR for the Off-Campus Housing site redesign in WCMS 3. Great example of collaboration to create great information architecture and UX in WCMS 3!
