Research Showcase

Showcase your water-related research at the Water Institute’s World Water Day (WWD) celebration.
UW Graduate and undergraduates are encouraged to present a poster of any stage of their research. Posters presented at other conferences will be accepted.
Students are responsible for designing, printing, hanging and taking down their own posters. Students must set up their posters between 9:30 - 10:30 am before the start of the event. We encourage students to be near their posters between 12:20 - 2 pm during the poster session. Judging will take place during the poster session, with the winners announced at the end of WWD at 3:30 pm. Posters will be judged on clarity, scientific quality and presentation of the research. Posters can be taken down at the end of the event at 3:30 pm.
Posters will be displayed on a poster board that is 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall. Posters will be assessed for their organization and legibility, design and choice of graphics and tables, overall impression and significance of the research, research content, and the student’s knowledge of the material if they speak with a judge. For more guidelines on how to design a research poster, students can refer to our 2025 World Water Day: Tips & Guidelines.
If you would like support or have questions, please contact Taylor Virgin (tlvirgin@uwaterloo.ca) or Nathanael Bergbusch (ntbergbu@uwaterloo.ca) , Co-Vice Chairs Conference of SWIGS.
