Increasing Efficiency of CAES with Thermal Energy Storage

Ontario currently produces more energy than is required, as a result the energy being sold is essentially free. Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) is a storage technology which relies upon compressing air, using off-demand energy, into a pressure vessel to store it as potential energy in its compressed state. The efficiency of CAES can be increased by using Thermal Energy Storage technology to trap the heat during the compression stage and to reuse the heat to expand the air later to drive a turbine.
