The Centre for Teaching Excellence is pleased to announce that Monika Soczewinski has been hired to the position of Program Coordinator, Graduate and Postdoctoral Programs, replacing Darlene Radicioni who recently retired.
After 13 years at the Centre for Teaching Excellence (and many more elsewhere on campus) Darlene Radicioni has retired! She will be missed by her CTE colleagues, and by the innumerable graduate students whom she has devotedly assisted as Program Coordinator. But Darlene is hardly slowing down! Menges Award for Outstanding Research in Educational Development for her conference session entitled Why Students Avoid Risking Engagement with Innovative Instructional Methods.
Three students in CTE's Certificate in University Teaching (CUT) program have had their CUT projects published in a special national issue of Teaching Innovation Projects, published by Western University. Here is the list of their projects:
Alex Shum, one of CTE's Graduate Instructional Developers, was recently awarded the inaugural Feds Teaching Award. Student comments about Alex's teaching included that he "went out of his way to make sure everyone in the class understood the course content," and that he gave “the most effective and engaging lecture
The staff of the Centre for Teaching Excellence are proud to report that their Director, Donna Ellis, successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation on Monday, March 25!
Over 5 days from April 15 to 19, 2013 two intensive workshops on Case Writing and Case Teaching will be offered at the University of Waterloo by facilitators from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University, a recognized authority on Case-Based Learning (CBL).
