Introductory Analytical Chemistry

This course introduces students to the principals and applications of analytical chemistry. Topics covered will include such things as experimental errors, statistics of measurements, gravimetric analysis, and electrochemistry. Various titrations will be highlighted, including acid/base, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), among others. Chemical equilibrium and activity, as well as acid-base equilibria will be touched on. The fundamentals of instrumental methods including spectrophotometry, ultra-violet (UV)-visible absorption, and chromatography (liquid and gas) will be discussed.
